買了《Ratatouille 五星級大鼠》差不多兩個月，竟然要到歲晚時節才有閒暇欣賞。其實這齣動畫電影我是決定入戲院看的，可是怎也騰不出時間來；待落畫兼推出影碟接近 3 個月後，我始發現自己尚未曾看，故匆匆買下 DVD 影碟，留待日後觀賞。
年初一晚上，跟婆婆嫲嫲拜過年回家，吃過晚飯，完成所有必要事務後，我終於替那隻己開始被塵封的影碟開封，可是妹妹和弟弟自顧玩電腦遊戲，媽媽和爸爸則 9 時多便上床睡覺去。我唯有安靜地、「孤獨」地看畢它。

迪士尼今次的《五星級大鼠》，以廚房禁客老鼠作為主角，取材確是新鮮，而且寓意老少咸宜；加上彼思製作的動畫栩栩如生，不難讓觀眾看得開懷，只是笑位稍嫌不足。故事由始至終都貫徹著一個十分簡單的主題信息 －－Anyone can cook。這句話是名廚 Chef Auguste Gusteau 的理念，然而，這番言論卻遭戲內一位極有權威的食評家反對，令 Gusteau 所經營的餐廳一厥不振，名氣急劇下滑。Remy 一隻很崇拜 Chef Gusteau 的小老鼠，牠擁有興生俱來的卓越嗅覺和味覺，只要一嗅食物便能分辨好壞，以及知道怎樣烹調才能帶出食物獨特的味道，故此，牠非常渴望自己朝一日能進入廚房，並成為出色的廚師。可是，「A rat to a kitchen is death,a kitchen to a rat is death.」兩者不能共存；不過，皇天不負有心鼠，Remy 終於有機會入到廚房，而且還是 Chef Gusteau 所開的餐廳的廚房；Remy 更憑自己對食物的天賦觸覺炮製了一煲異常美味的餐湯，打救了 Linguini 一命。事緣 Linguini 原是此餐廳新聘任的清潔工人，但他做事呆頭呆腦，撞板多過食飯，一次不小心掉了不知甚麼調味料進整煲餐湯內，幸得 Remy 及時發現，以其他食材將之補救；事後，這餐湯獲一位食評家極力讚賞，於是向來看 Linguini 不順眼的主廚藉詞刁難，命他在一星期內炮製出一模一樣的餐湯，還說會從旁監察。不知就裡的 Linguini 嚇得目瞪口呆，但他知道那煲湯是由 Remy 所煮，縱然自己亦覺荒唐，在別無他法下，也只能相信「奇蹟」，故事由此展開。

全套電影中令我最欣賞的地方是，近尾聲部分，那位握著一間餐廳生殺大權的食評家，在吃罷由 Remy 所煮的 Ratatouille 後，回家撰寫食評時的獨白︰In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends. Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto: Anyone can cook. But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more. 這是一段發人深省的說詞，與中國人一句「英雄莫問出處」有著異曲同工之韻；老鼠在人的眼中，只是一種微不足道、骯髒污穢的小動物，但迪士尼的動畫，往往就能從人類最看不起的地方，將牠們發掘出來，讓牠們成為人見人愛的卡通明星。或許直到現在，我們都不期然地對路邊的乞丐、新移民等，在我們認知裡是一群出身低微、社會寄生蟲的人，產生厭惡的態度；惟即使人如何卑賤，如何被人蔑視，只要他仍對生活、對自己的理想還有追求的熱情，總會有成功的機遇。

歷史上的偉人，不都盡是含著金鎖匙出世，也不盡是書香世代之後；他們之所以能夠成功，能夠值得歷世歷代的人緬懷，是因他們對生命、對理想有著一份堅持和忍耐的熱情；今天的人，對生命的熱情冷卻，對前路更是茫然不知所走，那誠然是進步與文明所產生的副作用，亦是一種無可挽救的悲哀。
